Sensei Justine Musonda is a Third Dan Judo Black Belt. He started Judo on the Copperbelt in Ndola after being introduced to the art in 1987. Judo intrigued Justine, and he found it to be a rewarding, challenging, and captivating endeavor. He also discovered that he had a gift to match his passion for the art. Eventually, he was awarded his Black Belt by the legendary Father Jude (the Roman Catholic Priest credited with bringing Judo to Zambia) in 2001.
From 2001 to 2003, having achieved his First Dan in Zambia, Justine traveled to the World renowned Kodokan Judo Institute in Japan to continue his training and expand his knowledge. Upon his return, he played a pivotal role in Zambia’s national Judo scene, training many of the Nation’s rising stars. He subsequently received his Second Dan in 2006 and Third Dan in 2014. However, among all his great accomplishments and remarkable pedigree, Justine’s greatest asset may be his ability to translate all of that into teaching Judo to children.
Justine married Linda Chintu in 2009. They have three sons. We are truly blessed to have him as part of the Lusaka BJJ Leadership Team.
